My Husband's Best Friend...

...was put to sleep yesterday. This was a very hard (but easy at the same time) decision to make.

Jax was 11 years old and a great companion to Chris. They had the same personality, they would growl at you until they get to know you and then are extremely loving. Jax had been going down hill for awhile now, Chris was keeping him going with patience and care. Rosetta was keeping him young. I think this last cold snap was too much for his body to take. He stopped eating, drinking, moving, he stopped living before his body did.

Chris asked me to call the vet about putting him to sleep. We couldn't stand to see him that way and I am sure Jax was ready to go. Chris was with Jax when they took care of him. Chris said no sooner had they injected him that he was gone.

We took Jax out to my father-in-law's and buried him there with his stuffed bear (he carried it around like a little baby). This has been heartbreaking for us both, more so for Chris.

Rosetta is lonely without Jax already. She is going to live at my mom's with her two dogs, Bart & Isaac.
